We flew out of PDX on Saturday, August 31 on a 7pm flight to Vancouver with a connecting red-eye flight to the Ottawa airport. Because we had to go through customs in VanCity, we semi-rushed from our arrival gate over to the customs area.
Magnolia and Cassidy ready to ride!
Obligatory PDX photo.
Ready for take-off!
Our last American sunset for a while.
When we tried scanning our boarding passes in order to get into customs in Vancouver, the border agent told us we were too early. Turns out that while we were in the air (for less than 90 minutes, mind you) our flight to Ottawa was canceled! After some panic and a long wait in line for a short conversation with a customer service agent we were re-booked on a flight at 9:15am Sunday morning. The only problem? There were zero available hotel rooms in Vancouver!
WE SPENT THE NIGHT ON THE FLOOR IN THE CORNER OF AN UPSTAIRS DINING AREA ABOVE THE FOOD COURT.
And yes that's the pedestal of one of those telescopes you can look out the window with. I'm not even going to talk about how little sleep the adults got for reasons related to being Mommy Bear, Mama Bear, and Papa Bear. If you've never spent the night in the food court of a major airport you're not missing anything!
AIR CANADA, WHAT A NIGHT!
But the next day we made it to Ottawa, Ontario without any further incidents.
