Our last full day in Florence was also BC's 50th birthday. We've been planning this entire trip for the last year + in celebration of BC, and what better way to celebrate than visiting your ancestral home.
Our plans for the day included sightseeing in Fiesole and then dinner out at a wonderful local restaurant called Cucina PietraForte.
Birthday picnic in ancient Etruscan ruins. Delicacies included salumi, formaggio, homemade bread and various jarred yummies from local markets.
The kids are at their best when they get to run free ~ even amongst the ruins.
Birthday dinner at Cucina PietraForte! Highly recommend a trip here for anyone going to Florence.
A breathtaking view from the hills of Fiesole (above Florence)
You have not lived until you've tried Florentine style steak, marinated in whiskey, then grilled.
We will be attempting to recreate this baccala mousse on polenta cakes this Christmas....
All the meats.
